Terms related to power tool switches

Automatic reset

When a sufficient external force acts on the operating member of the switch, the moving contact in the switch is caused to move. When the external force is removed, the moving contact automatically returns to the original state.

Instantaneous action

The speed of closing or opening between the static and dynamic contacts is determined by the mechanism itself, and has nothing to do with the operating speed of the actuator.

Forward and reverse device

A device that does not have the ability to switch on and off the current, and changes the internal circuit connection state of the power tool whenever no current flows, thereby changing the direction of operation of the power tool.

Electronic speed governor

Electronically adjust parts, components, or groups of components that control the speed of a power tool.

Electronic soft start module

An electronic component that controls the startup speed of a power tool.
